About

Our Story

Hi my name is Kellie.

In 2009, I lost my son to the “insanity” of gun violence.  What began as an argument, ended with my son desperately fighting for his life. During the argument, the other person returned with a gun and with one shot, Isaiah bled out and died. He left behind his grieving family, including an 11-year-old son.

From that year on, my family began hosting a BBQ as a way to remember Isaiah.  What began as a memorial for friends and family grew into something much more. In the 10th year, I was introduced to and welcomed into Not Another Child, which is a community of those left behind - mostly moms but also families. Through this organization, I found a way to be a part of the solution; a way to help eradicate gun violence through the healing process.  We push our legislators to fight for sensible gun laws and implore them to see how gun violence devastates families.

As part of our work, my family’s day of remembrance has now grown into a way to reach families impacted by gun violence and give forth love to these struggling families. But it has grown beyond what my family can do on our own. While healing is key, these families have a host of needs.  My family is but one link in the healing chain.

We are asking for help so that we can branch out in more ways to support these grieving families, such as by hosting more activities for the children left behind. Please donate so that we can go further and reach more families.  Every donation matters.  If you are not able to contribute, please … please …. share this so that others can help.

Thank you
